Protecting & Restoring Long Island's Peconic Bays

Natural Resources Sub-Committee

The Natural Resources Sub-Committee is a branch under the guise of the Peconic Estuary Partnership’s Technical Advisory Committee. Members include representatives from local partnerships and non-profits, local government, state regulators, researchers, and scientists. New members are encouraged to reach out to join the NRSC as project interests or issues arise. The NRSC meets the needs of the TAC particularly as it relates to habitat projects throughout the estuary, including work with diadromous fish habitats, wetland restoration, and wildlife initiatives. In 2020, the NRSC finalized the 2020 Peconic Estuary Partnership Habitat Plan which includes a wide range of habitat-related projects across all townships. The Habitat Plan undergoes a two-year review, as was updated as of November 2024. The PEP Program Office utilizes this document to propose project ideas and allocate funding to initiate respective projects.
