What is the Peconic Estuary Program?
Aliens Invade the Estuary!
Plants and animals from distant lands have colonized the Peconics, displacing native species and interfering with human activities. These "invasive species" are spreading rapidly, and the PEP is working to rein them in and reduce their negative impacts on the estuary. Join us on July 12th & 13th, 2008 as we attempt to eradicate one particularly pernicious invasive plant, the water primrose.

Cell Phone Recycling
The USEPA has recently teamed up with leading cell phone manufacturers, service providers, and retailers to encourage Americans to recycle their cell phones and accessories. Cell phones and accessories, are a growing percentage of the electronics waste stream that contain precious metals, plastics, and glass, all of which require energy to mine and manufacture. Recycling cell phones and accessories helps use these materials wisely, saves energy, and keeps valuable material out of landfills and incinerators. Click here and here to learn more.
