Call for Applications: Meetinghouse Creek Engineering Design Services
Feb 14 @ 1:00 pm – Apr 30 @ 12:00 pm

NEIWPCC and the Peconic Estuary Partnership (PEP) invite proposals from contractors to complete engineering designs and permitting for a habitat restoration project at Meetinghouse Creek in Riverhead NY. The project is anticipated to start on August 31, 2020 and must be competed no later than July 31, 2022.

PEP and the town of Riverhead have identified the Meetinghouse Creek Wetland Construction project as a priority habitat restoration project. In 2019, the Conceptual Design for the site recommended the construction of a 1.2 acre wetland to manage stormwater runoff. When completed, the project will manage stormwater flow and stormwater-derived pollutants, improving water quality and wetland plant and wildlife biodiversity.

The current request is for services to develop complete engineering designs based on the conceptual design and to secure all necessary permits so this project is shovel-ready. The deadline for applications is April 30, 2020.

Proposals must be submitted by no later than 12:00 PM EST (noon) on April 30, 2020. No late submissions will be considered. Applicants must submit their proposals electronically through the NEIWPCC website. Award notification to applicants is expected by May 22, 2020.

To apply and for more information follow this link to the Request for Proposals on the NEIWPCC website.

LIRPC Request for Proposals: Long Island Quality of Water Integrated Data System (LIQWIDS)
Mar 9 @ 4:00 pm – Apr 20 @ 4:00 pm

The Long Island Regional Planning Council (LIRPC) is inviting proposals from qualified candidates to provide direct assistance, coordination, and administration for the Long Island Quality of Water Integrated Data System (LIQWIDS) project.

Access to Long Island-related water quality data is vital to local and state officials for making important resource management and regulatory decisions. At present, this data exists in various forms and with different degrees of accessibility. Data collected by federal, state, and local government agencies are mostly publicly available; however, not all are readily accessible via an electronic database/repository that can be remotely queried. The Long Island Quality of Water Integrated Data System (LIQWIDS) is a multifaceted system, designed by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), which provides a custom, map-based user interface for sharing ambient water quality data in a format that allows local stakeholders to visualize their data along with all other available data. The stakeholders include the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), LIRPC, officials from Nassau and Suffolk Counties, USGS, South Shore Estuary Reserve, Peconic Estuary Program, Long Island Sound Study, environmental groups, academic institutions, water quality monitoring groups and other interested parties.

LIQWIDS has been designed to link to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Water Quality Portal, which is a repository for data submitted through the Water Quality Exchange (WQX). WQX is the mechanism for data partners to submit water monitoring data for public dissemination. The Water Quality Portal is the mechanism for anyone to retrieve water monitoring data from EPA WQX.

In coordination with the LIRPC and the NYSDEC, the consultant will provide direct assistance along with overall coordination, administration and short and long-term planning for assisting entities with preparing their water quality data for uploading to EPA’s WQX.

The RFP and appendices can be downloaded here. Proposals will be received until 4:00 p.m. on April 20, 2020.  Any late proposals will not be considered.

Requests for information pertinent to the preparation and submission of proposals and the procurement process are to be emailed to:  Elizabeth Cole, Deputy Executive Director, ecole@lirpc.org no later than April 13, 2020.  Responses to inquiries will be posted on the LIRPC website within five business days of receipt of the inquiry.
